Once a crackhead

I have been dissociated with my family since 1995. I have 4 other brothers and sisters. I had a severe crack addiction that ruined my life. My Children were Taken from me and given to my sister until I could raise my 2 girls, age 2 and 7 .In The same month I got in a car accident which was my wake up call. I almost died. By 1998 I completely stopped doing drugs and I have kept it clean for 11 years now. My sister who took my children not only kept them, but never even sent me a photo of them after all these years. I haven’t seen anyone except my dad since I lost my kids. In April this year, Someone looking for my oldest brother contacted me. He told me my oldest brother became homeless after my mothers death. For 2 months I have been searching for him and filed a missing person report. I received a call yesterday from my brother in CA.Ill have him on a bus and He will be living with me until he finds a home. I still want to see my kids,but this is a good start.

I wanted to update on this post. I love my Brother so much and I want him to have a chance at life, but since he has been here, He has not allowed me to wash his clothes He has not even left his bedroom to see my front yard. He has not even called for welfare or food stamps. I told him he should be seen by a Doctor to help him. He is very argumentative about a doctor and will not help himself at all. SO I hope you all back me, But I had to give him a letter the other day spelling this Out. God Forgive me but I must do this.

When I heard you were living on the street. It hurt me deeply. I felt like someone needed to try to help you and I was willing to do that and give you a chance.
That day I filed this missing person report, I kept in contact with your friend and was deeply worried about you.
When I finally heard you had been found I was excited, happy and couldn’t wait to help you.
The Day you called, and I found out where you were and how life was for you I felt very powerless and sad .When we hung up it was heartbreaking to know your situation.
I’m sure while you walked within your own limbo and lost without anyone caring if you were found dead or alive , You must have said to yourself.
Please God , someone give me one more chance. With me, God has given you that chance.
I love you Jim so I rescued you from the punishing heat of the Mohave Desert. I used money that was meant for my medication to get you here immediately. Some day you can pay me back. I bought you tobacco to get you by for your fist month, using money out of the only 70 dollars I had left for that month.
I asked you to show some kind of effort by the June 6, 2009 to change your life and try to get yourself going.
I haven’t seen that. I am your sister, not your keeper. Your are still homeless Jim. You are only my guest. August 1st 2009 Is your deadline to find your home.
At this point I can only hope that from today until August 1st 2009 you take this very seriously and help yourself so I don’t have to put you back on the street.
I can sleep at night knowing I have tried my best.
I will no longer pester you to do for yourself until you leave. That will be up to you. I want you to be mindful of my electrically, water and other necessities. I pay for These things and they cannot be over used. Please shut off your lights during the day and TV off at night .I will not be buying any more tobacco so I hope you are prepared for that change.
During your time here, I don’t want any illegal drugs in my home. No guests at any time.
I cannot offer you my computer anymore. Although you are welcome to use the phone if available.
I love you Jim and I want you to be ok. I want you to have the best. What I have given has helped ,But I cannot offer anymore.
Dad will pay for your next bus ticket. Wherever you want to go. But I need to know a destination a week before August 1st to arrange for a ticket.
Please help yourself Jim. I want the best for you.

Get a doctor, whatever it takes. You have done alot Fawn, but a doctor is needed now. No-one in their right mind locks themselves in a room for so long, he isn't lazy, he just needs a doctor and Phsyque. No other option, i know plenty of addicts and ex-addicts, he sounds like he is in the place i call no-where. They don't know what to do or where to go, but a doctor and Phyque will help him on his way. Trust Me.

Have you tried Narcotics Anonymous? or Alcoholics Anonymous?

I have been in the program for a while now and know it works...

Thank you Appleton, I feel the same as you do. I don’t think an adult can make another to see a doctor. He needs one bad. I told him that a doctor would help him. ( he tells me he is not sick and became argumentative and loud. I want him on social service but he takes offence. ( Im not sick) I told him brilliant people need help sometimes. It makes him mad. My Father told me I should lock my room at night because he is not stable and as the his deadline dates become closer I will be more aware of how he is reacting to his situation

The only problem he has ever had is Pot. He doent have anymore and I am not buying it.
I am watching for theft though.

Hi Fawn

You all know who I am by this time. As much as i cried over the fact that my family removed me from MY HOME it was the single best thing that ever happened to me because at that time I was deep into denial. Remember, one cannot be saved unless they want to save themselves. Also at that time of darkness i could not understand why my family did not support me or stand by me. Well, now i do..just had to put it in Gods hands. Fawn, you are doing the right thing and God Bless you for what you have done for your brother so far and now it is time for him to realize what he must do.

I will say a prayer for you and your brother..hang in there
