I just ordered a new PC, and selected the 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX as the gfx card. I was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts about this card. Pros/Cons? Any familiarity? Would an ATI have been a better choice?
Thanks |

The 8800gtx is the 2nd best gfx card out there. the best is the 8800 ultra, which is a waste of money as the gtx can sometimes be oc'd to ultra speeds.
I would normally say go ATI [I'm an ati fanboy lol] but their new gen of cards plain and simple sucks. The only con with the gtx is meager drivers under vista and they dont have HDMI out and I do not think it supports HDCP natively, so you can't watch full res blu-ray and hd-dvd movies

my buddy has two of these cards on his board. there are really fast and the graphics are awesome. i asked him how he did it as i want to set my new machine up for optimal performance. he has a four monitor system and games on two of them. he can run two games at the same time on this machine.
he is a big time gammer and when i get the specs on his board i will share it here. he is only running one power supply and my guess it would have to be 800 watts plus. i have never seen a machine like this since the gaming comp i went to. specs will follow later. all i can say is unless you are an extreme gamer then get it well worth the money or if your are a 3d specialist get it the speed and graphics are awesome. average user is just wasting there money as they won't get the full use of it. just my opinion. unless of course you want to keep up with the new technology. ![]()

I presume he has more than 800watt because he probably has a monster processor. Probably 1000watt minimum.
