Here's what you'll need:
![]() OH and a willing participant that can make "The Evil Face". Start with your open ocean. Make the desired color adjustments. ![]() Add a vignette and the boat. I did a choppy cutout and tilted it to prepare for the wave of DOOM. ![]() Add your creature. I drew inspiration from the recent POTC poster, and added a large tentacle. Afterwards I inserted and blended the wave. Do your color adjustment accordingly. ![]() Add some sheens. I added some light sheens to the tentacle for the "wet look". I also threw in some color tints that will be used later on. ![]() Add noise and overlay tones. I used a dark green/olive overlay later. After that I added a black and white noise layer, blurred it just slightly and set it to Soft Light over the poster. ![]() Add some grit. Next I added some grit, dirt, and of course - an explosion! ![]() More texture. I added yet more GRIT and then used a parchment texture for the top. I did some adjustments to make the parchment more green and contrasted - then blended it in. ![]() Add your head. Modify at will. I took that photo i shot of Christian and adjusted the contrast and shadow/highlights. I then went in and manually burned the outlines of his face and color dodged some highlights. Lastly, I added a fantastic mustache and some eyeliner. Oh and I extended his eyebrows. Christian, such a saucy minx. ![]() Almost done! I next added some messy hair above his eyes add gave his chin some stubble. Also, I started implementing some background shadows. ![]() Add some sparkle. Next, add some orange overlay lights wherever you choose. When you are done - add palm trees on the sides! ![]() And we're done! Throw in some tonal lighting and shadows. When you're happy, toss ina mutilated logo and some casting credits. Done! ![]()

Step 1: Get a photo of your car, something medium resolution is good, if the photo is two low then the cars parts will look odd, if its a crazy detailed RAW file, the final product will look more fake. so heres the photo Im using, Its from the old thread compliments of 04ts:
Step 2: Go to the cars wallpaper site http://www.filmtotaal.nl/module.php?...ew&wid=0317219 and find a car mouth and eyes that suit your picture, It dosent mater if the car is facing left or right, or the perspective angle, we can change all that later, for this chop im using Flo, Open this wallpaper at the highest resolution: Step 3: with your CARS wallpaper and using the freehand laso (newbies) or pen tool select a large area around the mouth. Make sure you include all the mouth corner lines. this selection dosent have to be perfect. Step 4: Drag the mouth to your car photograph and set the opacity to around 75% Step 5: If your mouth is backwards (as in this case) go to the edit menu>transform>flip horizontal. Now comes the hard part: using the transform functions (rotate, scale, and a lot of perspective) drag the mouth around so it covers the area of your front bumper. I find it very easy to use the foglight holes as a refferance, putting the edes of the mouth just a little bit over the inside crease (blue) just make sure you pay attention to the bottom and sides of the mouth (red) and that the perspective of the mouth fits the perspective of the car step 6: go back to your wallpaper and using the plygonal laso select a general area around the eyes/windshield. again this selection dosent have to be perfect just make sure you're outside the windshield: Step 8: Drag the eyes over to your photo and set the opacity to 75%. Ok, as with the mouth you have to use the transform tools (rotate, scale, A lot of Perspective) to fit the windshield around your own windshield (pat attention to the perspectives! (blue lines) this will make the differance between something that looks realistic and something that looks stupid) Pay attention to the eyebrows, make sure the color goes all the way to the top corners (red) make sure your eyes Step 9: hide the visibility of the eyes layer (the little eyeball in the Layers Pallet) and very carefully using the magnetic laso or Pen tool select around the edge of your windshield. you want to select under your windshield wipers. Then go up to the menu Select>Feather and set that to 2 or 3 pixles (a little more if your using a big file) Step 10: Select the inverse (ctrl+shift+I) and without deselecting anything, click on your CARS eyes, make it visible again (the little eyeball) and press delete. this should trim around the edge and make the eyeballs fit your windshield, Now you can play with the opacity, to preserve the reflections in the windshield I think about 85% is good. Step 11: Going back to the mouth, make sure you have the brush pallet open (Press F5) and select the ereaser tool. pick a fuzzy brush (see below) thats about 10% the size of the mouth, start ereasing around your mouth to remove all hard edges, make sure you dont erease any of the actual mouth. Step 12: Set the opacity of the mouth back up to 100% and using progresively smaller fuzzy brushes erease the rest of the color that covers the fog lights, grill, under the bumper, headlights. basicly everywhere that isnt solid paint (Red) Code:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s113/Chaitanyaa/Photoshop%20Tut/Covering20bumper.jpg Step 14: youll notice that you can still see some of the grill under the mouth, the best way I've found for getting rid of this is tedious. going back to your car photo and using the healing and clone stamp tools. If you arent comfortable with these then using another fuzzy brush and painting in some of the color of your car over the hole will also work this takes a pretty long time, I usualy try to clone the piece of the bumber between the fog lights and grill and use vertical strokes to cover the middle. heres an in process shot: Step 15: Go back up to the eyes and make a general selection around the eyeballs, then feather it out (like before) about 5 pixles, Then select the inverese again (ctrl+shift+I) Step 16: Do the same color adjustments as on the mouth and then you should be done! Code:

White Noise Movie Effect
Summary: I always thought the effect in the movie "White Noise" was pretty neat (and creepy). I thought I would create a photoshop tutorial that would show how to create an effect that is similar to the one in the movie. Step-By-Step Instructions: 1. Open a photograph of your subject in Photoshop. ![]() 2. Goto Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. (This turns the photo into Black & White). ![]() 3. Goto Filter > Add Noise. Set Amount to something high such as 60. Check Uniform and Monochromatic. ![]() 4. Click Ctrl+A to select the entire canvas. 5. Click Ctrl+C to copy the image. 6. Open another photo of a Television in Photoshop. ![]() 7. Click Ctrl+V to paste the static photograph onto a new layer over the television set layer. 8. With the static photograph layer active, click Ctrl+T to enter Free Transform mode. 9. Adjust the shape handles to fit over the television. ![]() 10. Click the "Eye" icon next to the static photograph layer to hide it. 11. Click the "Television" layer so that it is active. 12. Select the Magic Wand tool and click the white area inside the television. ![]() 13. Click the "Eye" icon next to the static photograph layer to unhide it. 14. Make sure the static photograph layer is active. 15. Goto Select > Inverse. 16. Click the Delete key. 17. You should now have your creepy white noise static effect in the television.

Using Illustrator's pencil tool and shapes of solid color, you can imitate the graphic novel styling of A Scanner Darkly. An animator from the film shows us how.
Director Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly impressed audiences this summer with a stunning 2D animation style that mixes heavy blacks lines with shapes of solid color to represent a realistic image. After filming the movie live action, we used proprietary vector software to animate directly over live footage, preserving the likeness and performances of the actors - a process called "Interpolated Rotoscoping." This tutorial will show you how I was able to recreate a similar effect using tools in Adobe llustrator. Using Illustrator's pencil tool and shapes of solid color, you can imitate the graphic novel styling of A Scanner Darkly. 1Select an interesting image for photo reference - the bigger the dimensions of the image the better. Go to File>Place to insert it into your Illustrator file. ![]() Since you'll be drawing right over the top of this reference image and you want it to remain untouched, you'll need to lock it on its own layer. In the Layers palette, double-click the layer and name this layer Image. Create a new layer to draw on by clicking on the Add New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette and call it Blacks. ![]() Press N or use the mouse to select the Pencil tool, and check that the Fill color is black and the Stroke color is None. You won't be using the stroke color because you don't want the line to have a boring static width. Instead, let's can manually produce a thick-to-thin brushstroke effect by automatically filling in the region between two arcs drawn with the pencil tool. ![]() Double-click on the pencil tool and change the settings to those shown here (Fidelity to 4 pixels, Smoothness to 35%, and check both Fill New Pencil Strokes and Keep Selected). You may prefer to adjust these later on depending on the kind of result you want, but these settings are good for making a smooth descriptive line. ![]() You're now ready to begin drawing. Similar to inking a graphic novel, start by drawing thin black outlines around major forms and fill in the darkest regions. Remember to be expressive with calligraphic shapes that yield a more dynamic result. If you need more control, you can switch to the Pen tool and draw exact curves or straight lines; however, this can become time consuming. I prefer to draw quickly with the Pencil tool and then manipulate the results afterwards by using the Direct Selection tool to refine the shape and the Pen tool to add more lines. The Pencil tool, unlike the Pen, tool does not apply Fill or Stroke until you release the mouse, which is a particular advantage since it often hides edges you need to trace as you draw them. Toggle the Eye icon on your Layers palette to hide the Image layer to check your results as you go. If you release the mouse before you completely circumnavigate the shape you are tracing, you can simply draw another shape that completes the shape. Or if it is completely wrong, you can press Command-Z (PC: Control-Z) to undo that last action and redraw it. If your line is jagged or rough, you can use the pen tool to delete extra points to smooth out the shape. Deselect the shapes after you're satisfied with them by pressing Command-Shift-A (PC: Control-Shift-A). ![]() Once you have finished with "inking" the blacks, you're ready to begin painting in the color. I prefer to work from dark to light. Create a new layer underneath the Blacks layer and call it Dark Blue. Each color will have its own layer and be divided into four to five tones, each with its own sublayer. Press I or use the mouse to choose the Eyedropper tool and select the appropriate colors right from the photo. Drag the color from the Toolbar into the Swatches palette (Window>Swatches). When you're satisfied with your color range, double-click each color individually in the Swatches palette to set the swatch options and check the Global box. This will make it easy later on to optionally replace all instances of that color by simply adjusting the swatches. Make sure you are on the right layer and press N or use your mouse to switch back to the Pencil tool. Just like you did for the blacks, color over the reference image with the dark blue shapes. Finish all of the dark blue shapes before moving on. ![]() Now that you have finished all the dark blue, create a new layer and select the next darkest tone from the Swatches palette. Repeat the process of drawing over the reference image to fill in each new color. Toggle the Eye icon on your Layers palette to hide the Image layer and check your progress. ![]() It's important to stay organized with your layers because there will be lots of shapes and colors to keep track of by the end. If you don't stay organized, it can become a huge headache to refine the shapes later on. The Blacks layer should remain on top at all times, and each new group of colors they should go underneath the previously finished ones. That way you are always filling in behind what you've previously finished. ![]() Try to describe accurately the forms with your shapes, and don't be afraid to play around with colors until they mesh well. Some parts of the picture, such as people's faces, will require emphasis and greater detail. You will probably have to add a few additional colors to increase depth and to draw attention to those regions. Code:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s113/Chaitanyaa/Photoshop%20Tut/scanner-9.jpg (Image size 500kb+) ![]() I expect to spend four to five hours on an image this complex. You can reduce the time you spend by limiting your colors and detail. Good luck experimenting with this new technique!
