Reiki is a form of spiritual practice, often compared to faith healing, proposed for the treatment of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual diseases. Practitioners use a technique similar to the laying on of hands, which channels "healing energy" Energy flows through their palms to bring about healing.
In a typical Reiki session, the practitioner asks the recipient to lie down and relax. The practitioner then intends to act as a channel for Reiki energy. Usually the practitioner moves their hands close to or on various parts of the recipient's body. It's a valid enough therapy that it's listed among those services we provide improving the quality of life of dying patients at the hospice I work at, and reimbursed by medicare. Those services are music therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, massage therapy, pet therapy (we have a resident companion dog, a Golden Retriever who lives on the premises with his own bedroom!) AND Reiki therapy. There are other types of healing energy that I'm versed in, but Reiki is one of the oldest and well known. It is not necessary that the recipient have a belief that it's even going to work to benefit from it. |

Reiki one of the true healing arts that is really amazing in what it can achieve. The more you learn the more you want learn. Give it a trial and be suprised. There are a lot of books available and to learn, the main thing you need is the want to help. I have studied all types of healing and this for me is the most honest and effective healing tool available.
