Our gardens kinda empty as well Somnus. When I built my home a couple of years ago, I full landscaped the outside area with a variety of trees, shrubs instant turf (grass). Unfortunately due to our extreme drought conditions, everything has virtually died off to nothing, coz we're not allowed to water any plants coz of the water shortage down here.
We've recently started replacing a lot of the dead stuff with succulents and Australian native shrubs (which I hate the look of by the way:rolleyes . These plants need virtually no water, so at least we'll have some type of greenery to brighten up the place a bit. As for the lawn..... well that's gone and all we have is a big expanse of dirt. All I do every weekend is mow weeds. Nothing kills those buggers!! ![]() Don't know what we're going to do with these areas, as it's a waste of time laying any more turf or trying to grow grass from seed, as we've got no rain to keep it green. A friend suggested we concrete all the areas that were once grass and paint the concrete green. How tasteful

Sadly, this has been a very dry season. We got rain this past week for the first time in 2 months. The foliage around my yard is dwarfed this year, I'm really bummed out about it too. ![]() The dryness has not bothered some plants, my Echanicia still invites the butterflys. My Cypress Vines are scruptious pit stops for resident hummingbirds. ![]() My Zinnia's obviously have no trouble with the drought, in fact I think they are a tad prettier than usual. The leaves normally suffer a leaf mold & look rusty, but it's been too dry for mold, so the foliage is as pretty as the flowers. ![]() This false marijauna Hibiscus Star is doing well in the dry too. The flowers are huge, & only last one day, but they always have bloom after beautiful bloom all summer long. The leaves look like a marijauna plant, thus it's name. ![]() Ya'll know that I believe in faeries so I must attempt to maintain a lovely place for them to enjoy. Sometimes fairies catch a ride on a butterfly or dragonfly. Sometimes they hide at the feet of my flowers. I think they are socializing with the tiny frogs & snails that live under the greenery. Some herbs are content with the dry air of late, my lavender, cumins and mints are midget in size but very beautiful. ![]() I don't know what would like to grow in Jordan, but these are things from my garden that seem to be happy during the drought. These are actual photos from some of my gardens. Did you see the Hummingbird hid in the foliage & sipping from the cardinal flower vine?
