Coded or Live Links.... you help us decide

The staff and elite have been asked and polled so now its up to the rest of the members to chime in.

With so many different links we want to make them all easier to see and download for our users. So we are asking you to help us make them all uniform so it is easier for you.

So 4 options now.

Only Coded
Only Live
Both Coded and Live (both in the same post for ease of everyone)
Either Coded or Live (up to the poster to decide)

For anyone that doesn't know.

Live links means you can click it. Usually underlined like this Coded or Live Links.... you help us decide

Coded links means they are in a "code" box. You can normally not click these but with Firefox and linkification you can make them clickable. Here is an example

So what is the difference? Coded links look cleaner and also let you see exactly what the link is. As you can see above live links get cut off so you can not copy and paste them. while coded links can be copy and pasted. And with FF and linkification they can also be clickable.

I say either because shouldnt it be up to the poster to decide whether or not it should be coded? But if i had to choose between the two id go with coded, thats how i post my links.

I'll look and see if there's a PHP code so that if one of them is there the other is automatically added?


Might work, might not, won't know unless we try.

It is possible to make something so you just enter them once and they are all added. But its hard and can get messy.

I think it should be up to the poster though, I prefer coded because I can cut/paste them into RS manager, but everyone who posts a lot is used to posting their links a certain way.

Seeing as it doesn't take much to post either way I don't think it will hinder the poster to code or not the links.

Wel...I'm not entirely sure on what 'live' links are, just taking a random stab here...if they're alive they stay and if they're dead they get deleted?

Anyway, I'd rather coded but voted for either.
