Hahahaha, Airliner you are a bit silly at times.

I enjoyed reading Morningstar's post. Morningstar seems to be a well informed individual. He has argued his view and historical facts effectively, however his argument is a bit one sided as mine was in my earlier post. I don't blame him, there is always more than one angle to handle facts. He has compounded his evidence and has made his choice. As much I do not like his choice, I am okay with it. Why? Because he made it out of careful analysis. I just can't stand it, when people base their choices on irrelevant issues such as flag pins or forgetting to place your hand at your chest when the anthem is being played or the person's age. Seriously, when did such things define your patriotism? I don't know where it was written in the American constitution that you must wear flag pins to be patriotic. Early presidents such as George Washington did not wear flag pins. That's just silly reasons. President Bush has wore the flag pin all these years; He sent American troops to Iraq, a country that posed no threat so that 4120+ troops can die. That's no patriotism.

As for who to vote for, don't rely on me or Morningstar or anyone else for that matter to make that decision. Do your own research and don't rely on pundits, fox news and out of context quotes thrown by the mainstream media. Go visit their websites, read their speeches, their ideas on the various issues and decide for yourself.

Let's stop the smears about each candidate and argue why we prefer one over the other on the issues. I will type off here. Have a nice day!

Morningstar will become famous soon enough

As much as you may not like the choice I have made I should point out one major difference between us. You are not in the United States and not an American citizen, therefore you cannot vote. I, on the other hand am an American citizen by birth and I am currently enjoying a a pleasant summer day in the states and have every intention of voting. The points you have made in your postings indicate that you share similar opinions about the U.S. election with many American liberals, however they can vote in the election while you cannot. To me that is very unfortunate, and I wish that more of them were in your position - outside the country.

Politics aside, I have enjoyed the discussion and I thank you for the insight you have added. Ultimately the American people will choose their next president and will have to live with that choice for the next four years. Their record for making intelligent choices is less than sterling, and for that reason I suspect that Barack Obama has a good chance to win. This too I consider unfortunate. As a nation, we have lived with far worse presidents and survived, hopefully we will survive Obama as well.

I have nothing against your large posts, keep it up.

Obama will make a speech in Berlin tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I can't see it (neither live nor via Tv).

Please stop...

I'm tired of reading all these long essays, it's making my brain hurt (maybe a tumor is growing or something), and my eyes are getting as dry as a handful of sand.

I'm going to make this pretty simple.

Age isn't experience! It's doing the right thing and being in the 'field' which is true experience. It's as simple as this: America needs to try something new, because you can't kill our economy worse than it is now, so 'change' is the only gimmick that we can go with now. If we have a Bush-style administration any longer, than it's lost hope, and I'll move to Canada.

*shrugs* "And that's all I got to say about that."

Change the forum-skin, maybe that helps.

I also voted for Obama. My favourite was Clinton but since she'd "lost" the primaries against Obama I'm for him.

@all McCain voters, who voted him because of the reason that he has more experience:

Who would you vote for if Clinton would have won the primaries? Still McCain?

Sometimes the truth requires and explanation and when that truth is related to subjects like economics, history, politics or any other fairly complicated matter then those explanations tend to be lengthy. It's possible that this has a lot to do with why so many people pick who they are going to vote for according to which of them comes up with the best short phrase like "Change You Can Depend On." While sweet little slogans might appeal to those with attention deficit disorder the rest of us would like to know exactly what changes are intended and how they will affect us ten years from now. It makes little sense to make changes just for the sake of making changes and when you stop to think about it that's exactly how we got into this situation. We started out with something that worked and worked very well until people started to change things to suit their own interests.

WHAT??!! Have you heard "Imperial Overstretch"? McCain's desire to remain in Iraq for probably a 100years should the situation demand it will weaken America. America has spent close to a trillion dollars on Iraq and Afghanistan with little progress. This money was borrowed and America will definitely pay for it. It's time for America to at least end Iraq so that it can regain some of its strength. America has to focus on Afghanistan where the real threat is. One of the reasons why Iran does not fear America is because they know America is stretched right now. If America keeps moving on this path, it will rather increase terrorism and make more Americans unsafe.

Go read Yale historian Paul Kennedy's book The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers for a more detailed analysis of Imperial Overstretch.

I'm off to chat with my girlfriend, I give WF more time than I give her. Talk to you guys in 2hrs time.
