Unless we're under attack by a NATION, only then would war experience matter, but right now we're fighting a group of mobile terrorist who are now no where to be seen in either Iraq or Afghanistan. (We're merely fighting extremist of a nation that we had wrongfully and falsely invaded). ~~ (Pakistan called and told us to check by later, in about 100 years.) ![]()

Combat experience as a qualification for president? What's the point? It might be useful if the White House was under attack and he was the only person home but that's pretty unlikely. The president has an entire Pentagon full of brass to advise him on military operations with as much detail as he can stand. As long as he knows what to delegate and who he can trust, he doesn't need to be much of an expert on anything.
The problem we are having in Iraq and Afghanistan is the same problem we had in Vietnam, the politicians in the Senate and the House of Representatives are trying to control military operations thousands of miles away. Not only do they not know what they are doing but they are using the entire war effort to grandstand their own political future and to slam everyone not in their own party. If they stayed out of the mix and let the military do what it does best the entire war would go a lot smoother. Beyond that, what one Marine says about Iraq does not necessarily give anyone the entire picture. I have talked to lots of Marines recently, in fact I spent last weekend down at Camp Pendleton visiting my son-in-law and the guys in his unit and I didn't hear anything about how we are losing the war or that it is all about oil. As far as that goes, about eight months ago I was at Fort hood in Texas for my son's promotion and I didn't hear any of that stuff coming out of the Army guys either. For the most part, all of them were fairly positive about what we are doing in the Middle-East and these were combat soldiers with numerous tours of duty in the sandbox. I'm sure there are complainers out there, rear echelon troops and National Guard who don't want to be overseas and resent being sent there but they don't represent anyone but themselves. I think this debate has pretty well petered out, obviously everyone has made up their mind and isn't going to change it regardless of what anyone else says and I'm not going to bother trying to change anyone's opinion. You vote for your scumbag and I'll vote for mine. It’s not as if either of them will really do any good anyway.

I love it when morningstar posts..................always a good read whether you agree or not.
![]() IMO, this is the most pathetic election I have ever seen. ![]() The best I've heard regarding Obama is from a newspaperman in Chicago, IL. He describes the man quite accurately: "what do you expect? Obama is a politician from Chicago. Plain and simple". Since Illinois is my "home state", I fully understand what the newspaperman was saying and agree 100%.
