Sorry, but Bob Marley and the wailers win this one. It's possible to go through life without hearing Flloyd( im a fan myself), but not possible to not hear some of Marleys stuff.

Bob Marley and the Wailers have to take it in my view. Bob Marley is legend, especially in Africa. Bob Marley's Redemption song and Africa Unite are the most played songs during Pan African events. Redemption song is the preferred song since it emphasizes freedom from mental slavery which exists among some Africans today. Bob Marley and the Wailers have produced No Woman No Cry, One Love: People Get Ready, Buffalo Soldier, Roots, Rock, Reggae and many other classics. They have become the Iconic image of Reggae. Bob Marley and the Wailers' music has been able to cut across generations. Their music is timeless and I feel they deserve the top spot.
The Beatles comes next for me. The Beatles are great in the sense that they redefined music of their time. They brought popular culture to music. Some of my favorite songs by them would be Eleanor Rigby, Day Tripper and Twist and Shout. Although they are good, I feel their music style represents a certain time in history which can not transcend into our time. I doubt they will be remembered in 20yrs time unless an artist edits their works to make songs. For example, Kanye West's Gold Digger was sampled from Ray Charles' I Got A Woman. To prove they might be forgotten, who remembers the Commodores? btw, who is Flloyd?

It gotta be the Jam. Pearl Jam that is. They are just awsome. I swear to God they are a virus. I listened to one song and i was hooked. I now have pretty much every song they have written. I've also given the virus to alot of my mates who love them now to. They dont have one bad song. Well maybe 1. But they have so much variety and are just awsome
