its much the same over here......the new (well, not exactly new) government here is starting to act like a babysitter - killing our freedom. for instance the brothels in amsterdam are now closed! why? because some catholic scum (no offense to the religion or the religious) got to power and they think hookers are wrong, while it was one of THE tourist attractions in amsterdam

Its not just Australia or Amsterdam its world wide, everyone is complaianing about there govrernment its is because often the government elect did not get the most votes due to other political parties and electate boundries. when they do get in they follow there own agender and forget the people. IT sucks and they suck there is no democracy other wise we would have secret ballets for all voting in parliment.
We should push an internet referendem on all major issues and the result to be binding.
But at the end of the day the polititions are making to much money to allow real democracy.

Fairly stupid idea if you ask me...Why don't they let the PARENTS decide what their children get to see and do, after all, it is their right as a parent isn't it?

It's the same deal with those groups against violent video games, they're not letting the parents parent. Not every child is the same, some will be effected by these things, some won't know what it means, and others are smart enough to know the right and wrongs. Give the parents their right and stop being over protective I say, if governments go on like they are at the moment, the earth is going to be one very boring place to live in the future. We'll all be brainwashed.
