We've had PLENTY of threads over the span of WF of people claiming if you name a movie what it is (i.e. Wanted.DVDRip.rar) and put it in your RS account you're just asking for it to either be deleted/reported, your account would be deleted for infringement or you'd have the MPAA/RIAA knocking on your door with a subpoena.
That is all complete bullshit. And RS said so. The arguement on my side (as well as many other uploaders) was that the M5 system they use is ALL they use. A company like RS (or MU, or MS, or MF, or NL etc etc) is not going to pay people to search their servers for pirated software. It'd be a job that would bankrupt a company or have a turnover ratio in the high 90s. It is absolutely ridiculous to think naming a file what it is will get your account snagged. I've contacted RS on 4 or 5 occasions since I bought my account in Sept 06 regarding phishing issues, premium point conversion issues etc etc and every time I've had at least one person say that's a free ticket for them to check my content and eventually get me into some form of hot water. Until a few days ago, I couldn't prove the way I thought about RS was the case, and now I can. 260+ gigs later and not a worry in the world about it... ![]()
