The world has a new computer mouse. So what? Well, the Z-Nano lays claim to being the world’s smallest optical mouse. Now that’s pretty special.
Designed for fingertip operation, the Z-Nano measures just 42x21x17.65mm, yet even lets you slot in your own [small] picture to personalise the mouse. It also sports ultra-bright indicator LEDs and provides hands-free automatic scroll modes.
It’s easy to use, just plug it into a USB port and play, and with its small size you can bring it with you anytime, anywhere. It uses laser technology to track movement, which should result in high tracking speeds, and should work on nearly every surface, even on black or shiny surfaces. According to the company’s specifications it can track up to 1600 dots per inch (dpi) whereas a typical optical mouse tracks between 400dpi and 800dpi only, so the ability to track higher dpi should result in higher sensitivity and better accuracy. You can also trace the outline of any image with its unique pointer.
The cable even clips into the mouse itself with a powerful magnet for easy storage. Unfortunately, the Z-Nano mouse is not wireless, however, but this could be seen as a benefit as at least it’ll prove harder to loose and, should you find yourself accidentally inhaling it during a sharp breath at least the cord will allow you to retrieve it from the depths of your lungs prior to asphyxiation. The Z-Nano mouse could be ideal for those with hand related medical aliments, as well as for those looking for a small travel mouse while out on the road. It retails for just $60.
