In the XMB scroll to the left to 'Settings' (XMB is the main menu of your PSP) 2. Scroll down to 'System Settings' and press X 3. Scroll down to 'System Information' and press X 4. Your firmware version is what it written next to the "system software" Checking your PSP Motherboard Model Next, you need to check what motherboard model your PSP has: 1. Open the UMD Door and face the screen away from you. 2. Look in the top right corner of the UMD Door. 3. If there is IC1003 written in gold then you have a TA-082 PSP. If there is no gold writing then you have a NON-TA-082 PSP. If you have Firmware 2.81, 2.82, 3.00, 3.01, 3.02 or 3.03 then your PSP is not able to play ISOs at the moment. If you have Firmware 2.80 and a TA-082, your PSP is not able to play ISOs at the moment. There will be a 2.80 TA-082 downgrade in the next couple of days These PSP firmwares and motherboard models can be downgraded to 1.50, then upgraded to 3.02OE-B. Firmware 2.80 with a NON-TA082 Firmware 2.71 with either TA082 or NON-TA082 Firmware 2.00 or 2.01 If you have Firmware 2.50 or 2.60 then update to firmware 2.71 then downgrade to 1.50 if you have Firmware 1.51 or 1.52 then update to firmware 2.00 then downgrade to 1.50 Upgrading your PSPs firmware 1. Download and unrar/unzip the firmware upgrade file you want to upgrade to. Plug in your PSP to your computer using a USB cable. 3. Select USB Connection from the 'settings' menu in the XMB 4. Open the Drive letter your computer assigns to your PSP (e.g E:\) 5. Open the "PSP" folder, then open the "GAME" folder. 6. Make a folder called "UPDATE" and make sure it is in caps. 7. Copy the firmware update into your "UPDATE" folder on your PSP. 8. Make sure the firmware update file is called "EBOOT.PBP" 9. Close the USB Connection and disconnect your PSP from your computer. 10. Make sure you have a full battery or plug in your PSP into the AC Adaptor. 11. Go to the memory stick under "Game" on your PSP and you should see the PSP firmware update. 12. Highlight the firmware update and press 'start' to start the update. 13. Now follow the on-screen instructions. 14. Once the update has finished, restart your PSP. 15. Now go to Settings > System Settings > System Information and check that the System Software has been updated. Now you have successfully upgraded your PSP firmware. Downgrade 2.00/2.01 to 1.50 Required Files: MPH Downgrader: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/3 1.50 firmware update: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4 1. Format your memory stick using your PSP. 2. Connect the USB cable to your PSP and make a USB Connection. 3. Unzip the MPH Downgrader to your MS0:\ (your PSP drive) 5. Unzip the 1.50 update eboot to a folder on your hard drive. 4. Open the PSP folder, then the GAME folder, make a new folder called UPDATE 6. Copy the 1.50 update eboot.pbp to the update folder on your PSP, make sure the update is called EBOOT.PBP 7. Close USB Connection and remove the USB cable from your PSP. 8. Plug in AC adaptor and Open PHOTO Menu. This will launch the downgrader. The downgrader will show some numbers and letters on the top of the screen, this is good. Wait for one minute then turn off your PSP by holding the power button up until it turns off. 9. Turn on your psp and go to the game menu and launch the 1.50 update boot. 10. Follow the instructions on updating to 1.50. When the update reaches 99% it will show an error "The update failed... (ffffffff)" THIS IS OKAY. DO NOT PANIC. Hold the power switch up for 4 seconds until your PSP fully turns off. 11. Turn your PSP back on. You will get a corrupt settings error with a blue background. Just press the "O" button and your PSP will restart with repaired settings. your PSP should then go through the setup process again. (set date / time etc) 12. Check the "System Settings > System Information", you should have "Version 1.50" 13. Format your memory stick using your PSP. Downgrade 2.71 to 1.50 (NON-TA082) THIS DOWNGRADER DOES NOT WORK ON A TA-082 PSP, IF YOU USE IT ON A TA-082 PSP YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PSP. Required Files: Complete Update Flasher Package: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/829 1. Format your memory stick using your PSP. 2. Unzip the Update Flasher Package to a folder on your computer. 3. Copy all contents inside the MS_ROOT folder to your memory stick. 4. Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HENC". - If your PSP freezes, restart your PSP and try again. - A blue screen will appear the first time you run this program and after that you'll either see: Red: The files couldn't be written to the flash, keep trying. Green: The files were written successfully. The PSP will reboot shortly. You can now run the downgrader included in the package. 5. Run the downgrader by running it from "Game > Memory Stick". 6. The rest of the steps are pretty simple, follow the on-screen instructions. 7. Format your memory stick after you've finished the downgrade. THIS DOWNGRADER WILL ONLY WORK ON A TA-082 PSP! Format your memory stick 2. Connect your PSP to your computer and make a USB Connection. 3. Unzip the TA-082 downgrader to a folder on your hard-drive. 4. Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/ 5. Unzip the official sony 1.50 eboot into a folder on your hard-drive. 6. Rename the 1.50 eboot.pbp to UPDATE.PBP and copy it into the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder on your memory stick 7. Unzip the HEN-D Installer to a folder on your hard-drive. 8. Copy the contents of the MS_ROOT folder to your PSP Memory stick. 9. Close the USB connection and disconnect the USB cable. 10 Run HEN-D from the photo menu. (Select photo, then open the HEN-D folder) You can check if HEN-D is running by going 'Settings' > 'System Settings' > 'System Information'. If System Software reads "2.71 HEN-D" if you are running HEN-D, you can go to the next step. If System Software reads "2.71 HEN-DH" then you are running devhook. Don't downgrade while in devhook it won't work. If you are having trouble running HEN-D and you have a UMD disc in your PSP then take it out and try running HEN-D again. Also try setting a custom wallpaper / removing a custom wallpaper, this may make the chance of HEN-D running more successful. 11. Run 'idstoragechange' from the game menu. It needs 75% battery. This will change some keys of your idstorage needed to downgrade ta-082. 12. The program will exit to the XMB. 13. Execute the generic downgrader, which will show in the xmb as "Update X.YZ" on your psp. 14. The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. It will downgrade your psp to 1.50. 15. At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp, Press X to restart. 16. You will see a blue screen that says corrupted settings, press O and reenter your settings. 17. Format your memory stick after the downgrade. If your PSP screen is black after you have downgraded but you can hear the 'click' sound of the XMB, try pressing the 'screen brightness' button near the bottom of your PSP and everything should be fine. Upgrade 1.50 / 2.71SE to 3.02OE-A Required Files: 3.02 OE-A Installer (for 1.50 users): http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/966 3.02 OE-A Installer (for 2.71SE users): http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/965 Note to 2.71SE users upgrading to 3.02OE-A: Make sure your "Game Folder Homebrew" setting in the recovery menu is set to '2.71 Kernel' before upgrading. '2.71 Kernel' is the default setting for 'Game Folder Homebrew'. If you didn't change the "Game Folder Homebrew" setting then you don't need to worry about doing this. If you get a "Game could not be started" message, you may need to check the 'Game Folder Homebrew' setting. 1. Download the 3.02 OE-A Installer for your firmware version. 2. Connect your PSP to your computer. 3. Open a USB Connection. 4. Run the 3.02 OE-A Installer 5. Click next twice 6. Choose "Give me 3.02OE-A" and click next 7. Press "..." and choose the drive letter your computer has given your PSP (e.g E:\) and press OK 8. Press next twice. 9. Wait while the installer is copying the required files to your PSP. (this may take a few minutes) 10. Press exit once the installer has finished. 11. Close USB connection and disconnect USB cable from your PSP. 12. Go to the Game folder on your PSP and choose 3.02 OE-A Firmware Install. 13. Press "X" to start the upgrade to firmware 3.02OE-A 14. Once you have 3.02OE-A firmware, format your memory stick. 15. You now need to make a few folders on your memory stick: In the x:\PSP folder you need to make a folder called GAME150 for all your 1.50 homebrew. In the x:\PSP folder you need to make a folder called GAME302 for all your 3.02 homebrew. In the x:\ folder you need to make a folder called ISO to hold all your PSP ISO/CSO games. 16. Turn off PSP, and turn it back on holding "R" to access recovery mode. 17. Here you can change certain options, once your done setting these options choose "exit". Configuration: Skip SCE Logo (Skips the PSP Bootscreen and disables UMD Autorun) Hide Corrupt Icons (Hides Corrupted Data from showing in the Game Menu) Game Folder Homebrew (changes the location your 1.50 / 3.02 homebrew goes into, see note below) Use No-UMD (Run games without a UMD in the PSP, some games may not work properly) Fake Region (Use if you have UMD movies from regions that are different to your PSP) Free UMD Region (Removes the region code on your PSP so it can play all UMD Movies) Registry Hacks: Button Assign (You can switch the O and X buttons for Confirm and Exit) Activate WMA (activate WMA playback without using wireless internet) Activate Flash Player (activate the Flash Player without using wireless internet) Note about the "Game Folder Homebrew" option: If this option is set to 1.50 Kernel then you need to put homebrew that is coded for Firmware 1.00/1.50 into the "PSP \ GAME" folder. Firmware 2.71/3.02 in the "PSP \ GAME302" folder If this option is set to 3.02 Kernel then you need to put homebrew that is coded for Firmware 1.00/1.50 into the "PSP \ GAME150" folder. Firmware 2.71/3.02 in the "PSP \ GAME" folder. Note about the "Skip SCE Logo" option: If you only want to disable the umd autorun, you can do this from the settings menu in the XMB: Settings > System Settings > UMD Auto-start: Off Update 3.02OE-A to 3.02OE-B Required Files: 3.02 OE-B (Update): http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/978 1. Unrar the OE-B Update to a folder on your hard-drive 2. Copy the OEB_UPDATE folder to the: PSP \ GAME150 folder if your "Game Folder Homebrew" option is set to 3.02 Kernel PSP \ GAME folder if your "Game Folder Homebrew" option is set to 1.50 Kernel 3. Run the update from the PSP Game menu. 4. Once the update is done, you can delete the OEB_UPDATE folder you copied to your PSP in step 2. Using recovery mode to uninstall 3.02OE Required Files: 3.02OE-A Installer: (see Upgrade 1.50 / 2.71SE to 3.02OE-A Section) 1. Hold the "R" button and turn on your PSP to boot into recovery mode. 2. Connect your PSP to your computer. 3. Select "Toggle USB" and press X, this will enable the USB connection. 4. Run the 3.02 OE-A Installer. 5. Click next twice. 6. Choose "Install Recovery folder for 1.50" and click next 7. Press "..." and choose the drive letter your computer has given your PSP (e.g E:\) and press OK 8. Press next twice. 9. Wait while the installer is copying the required files to your PSP. (this may take a few minutes) 10. Press exit once the installer has finished. 11. On your PSP select "Toggle USB" and press X, this will disable the USB connection. 12. Disconnect your PSP from your computer. 13. Select "Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" and press X 14. You will start the recovery program, wait while your PSP prepares the files needed to recover. 15. Press X to start the downgrade from 3.02OE-B to 1.50. 16. Once the downgrade has finished, you will have firmware 1.50 17. You can delete the /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder from your memory stick Other things you might want to know how to do: Joining RAR files that have multiple parts: 1. Download and install winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm 2. Place all parts into the same folder on your hard drive. 3. Right-click the first part and choose 'Extract to here'. 4. Winrar will open and extract/join the files into one file. 5. you should see your ISO/CSO file, copy it to the ISO folder on your memory stick. Note: ISO files may look like another winrar file. to tell is its an iso double click it. If winrar opens and you see a file and a folder (PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA.BIN) then its an ISO. --- Putting Music on your PSP: Connect your PSP to your computer, create a USB connection from the settings menu on your PSP. Open the drive letter your computer gives your PSP. Open the PSP folder, then open the Music folder and copy your music files there. You can put your music in a folder if you want it organized. You can't have a folder inside a folder like Artist \ Album \ track01.mp3 e.g: x:\ \---PSP \---MUSIC | Track01.ac3 | Track02.mp3 | Track03.wma | +---Folder1 | Track01.mp3 | Track02.mp3 | Track03.mp3 | +---Folder2 | Track01.ac3 | Track02.ac3 | \---Folder3 Track01.wma Track02.wma Track03.wma --- Putting Videos on your PSP: Connect your PSP to your computer, create a USB connection from the settings menu on your PSP. Open the drive letter your computer gives your PSP. MP4 MPEG videos go in the folder: x: \ MP_ROOT \ 100MNV01 \ M4V#####.mp4 MP4 AVC/H264 videos go in the folder: x: \ MP_ROOT \ 100ANV01 \ MAQ#####.mp4 you will need to replace ##### with any 5 numbers like 37626, 92631, etc, it shouldn't matter as long as its 5 numbers. (If you downloaded your video and are unsure what format the video is in, try looking at the start of the filename for MAQ or M4V) e.g x:\ \---MP_ROOT \---100MNV01 | M4V13567.mp4 | M4V19345.mp4 | M4V54275.mp4 | +---100ANV01 MAQ12345.mp4 MAQ67890.mp4 MAQ13579.mp4 --- Putting Photos on your PSP: Connect your PSP to your computer, create a USB connection from the settings menu on your PSP.
